Le 1500 is a small group of historic buildings dating back to the Twelfth Century, situated in the heart of Saussignac, a hilltop village on the southerly banks of the River Dordogne in South West France. Easily accessible from Bordeaux and Bergerac, and a short journey from St Emilion, Medoc and some of the finest world class vineyards, guests can choose from accommodation in one of our private houses or individual rooms. Facilities at our boutique establishment include a well equipped gym, Atonement, a poolside kitchen and covered dining area, The Tilly, Outdoor Cinema with Apple TV & Netflix as well as WiFi and 4G coverage throughout.
Our restaurant, Le Cafe 1500, serves freshly prepared, largely organic fare in a beautifully rustic setting.
The property is rich in original art, eclectic antiques and medieval history. Wander through the village vineyards, work out in the gym, paddle board on the Dordogne river, relax by the pool or sample the magic of our fine local wines.

A delicious continental breakfast with eggs to order, is served daily in the extraordinary Le Cafe 1500. Relax with a magazine and a pot of fresh organic coffee in the coolness and calm of the stone interior or on the magical, secluded terrace where you can glimpse the theatre of the kitchen.
Atonement is our gym space where guests can make up for any over indulgence. Cardio equipment, weights, the latest KO8 resistance & suspension equipment, yoga mats, Apple TV and Sonos connectivity for tailored workout beats or yoga & meditation vibes. Massage and Yoga classes are also available on site subject to prior booking.

Guests are invited to join us at Le Cafe 1500 for tapas, lunch or dinner where we serve freshly prepared, organic meals and a wonderful selection of very affordable local wines.
Our priority is for your stay with us to be relaxing, uninterrupted and enjoyable. We will provide housekeeping services as requested. Otherwise we will leave you to enjoy the peace and tranquility of your surroundings.
Pool & Garden
Nestled in the heart of the village, the garden is a tranquil oasis in which to unwind by the pool or in one of the shaded courtyards or in the Tilly. Small, but perfectly formed, the pool provides a focal point for guests in the summer months. Drinks and food can be served in the garden on request whilst you relax and soak up the abundant sunshine.
Private Events & Parties
With our expertise in luxury hotel and major event management, we can host the most amazing private events. Created with exquisite taste, elegance and attention to detail, clients can chose from use of the gardens, Le Cafe 1500 or one of two medieval banqueting halls in the Chateau de Saussignac.

Saussignac is ideally situated on the border of the Bordeaux and Bergerac wine regions, 30 minutes from St Emilion. One of the largest organic wine growing vignobles in France, we organise wine tours to accommodate all tastes - from simple authenticity to luxurious food pairings
Saussignac sits close to the Santiago de Compostela route in a region that prides itself on its rich history. From the sites of the 100 Years War to the sanctuary tower of Michel de Montaigne. From prehistoric cave paintings at Lascaux IV and Rouffignac to the grand history of the Royal City of Bordeaux.

Your hosts will be delighted to share some of their favourite market secrets with you, exploring, en route, some of the most beautiful countryside the region has to offer.

Art & Wine Residential Courses
Le 1500 hosts a number of painting courses with half or full board in April, May, September & October. Owner/artist, Michael F Rumsby (www.michaelfrumsby.com) will host you and ensure you have a fun and rewarding time exploring & expressing your creativity whilst learning about our fantastic local wines.
The region offers an extraordinary wealth of sightseeing opportunities. Bordeaux is an hour away. Toulouse is two hours by car. The atlantic coast, with its vast stretching sandy beaches, is around an hour and a half away and tapas or skiing are within reach, with Spain and the Pyrenees no more than four hours from Saussignac.
